FMOR=Famous Men of Rome, FMOG=Famous Men of Greece. Some history is scheduled in the LC1 that she does in the co-op class. This awesome mom there summarizes and retells the story on their level, making it really exciting. Today she had to interrupt CHOW,saying that he had left out the best part!

Yes, Alt-6 of SL uses CHOW. Dd is reading a lot of the books this year that are alt6 (I think, could check) and has enjoyed them. I'm not saying she's retaining the most, as they're up there (nice to get some down lower for your younger), but I am saying that alt-6 might actually be a realistic possibility. Even 1+2 would work if you want the geography songs schedule. That's what I got, the 1+2 IG, and it's been very helpful. It seems so simple, but having your fun songs and read alouds preplanned for the week, so you don't have to pick a book or song, is really helpful! It's increased our "fun factor". Both of your girls would also enjoy Window on the World scheduled in 1+2. Both Alt-6 and 1+2 use CHOW. Don't expect the moon from it. For the things that I wanted (schedule for geography songs, read alouds, Window on the World, etc) it's been nice and increased our fun time.

Is History Portfolio that preformatted history scrap/notebook thing? I was just afraid it would turn out not to align with whatevr I was doing and be more of a pain. I haven't used it though, so I don't know. The idea is really nice.

CHOW really glosses egypt. 18 of the cards in OTAE, as I recall, are history, while the rest are Bible. This means you have 5 months or so, if you do just the history-history of the OTAE cards, with very little CHOW to correspond, assuming you do one card a week. You can go VERY in-depth when you spend a week on each card, wowsers. We actually went TOO in-depth, but you could just accelerate. I mention all this so you can do the math and decide how you want to do it.

We learn the geography songs by continent or portion of the world, and they correspond to the reading in Windows.
