I bought these used for my DS5.5 and they are useful for some short and sweet activities. Sometimes they are like "breaks" between longer projects that we do. The "Can You Find Me" book is also good for waiting rooms, checkout lines, etc. I think that the VPS book is good, but very simple for my child at this age - maybe more for a 4yo, but a good introduction to this type of exercise. I'll try the second one once it shows up on the swap board - that is where I got all of my CTP books because they are super pricey. If I can get them for $12 or so, I think it is worth it. I got the Mathematical Reasoning through Verbal Analysis and also Thinking Skills 1 off that board and my DS5.5 is doing activities in them. They are said to be for 2-4th grade, but I think a bit younger is fine. He also really enjoys mazes and 3-D puzzles from Mindware.com - you might check this out, very good for visual-spatial skills.
