I've looked at level 1 Physics(not chemistry) and it's much more detatiled-too detailed for a 3rd grader in my opinion. I'm assuming the chemistry would be the same. With the prelevel chem, both my kids are getting the concepts-even the 1st grader, although not to the degree the 3rd grader is. I wouldn't use level 1 chem with those ages.
