similar mind to guide you. You're not a follower, so you're right, you're not likely to be happy with just doing SL or whatever. That doesn't mean you can't use it, but it means you'll be more confident with the jump when you decide it's accomplishing what you want to do, rather than the other way around.
Don't think in terms of grade levels so much as meeting the needs of your kids right where they are now and keeping them properly challenged.
To save money, only buy 6 months in advance, ie. basically whatever you're going to be using in the near future. :)
