That's what he wants the Arabic for. That's why he wanted to learn French, too. I have absolutely no idea how much French is spoken in Egypt, but I spoke it a bit and it seemed like a good place to start. Now that he is making progress in that, he wants to do Arabic. Somebody pointed me to an article that said Standard is about like our Elizabethan English compared to our modern English, so I was thinking if he just wants to speak it, perhaps he should go straight to a dialect. If the article is wrong and the difference is more like southern and standard US ENglish, then that doesn't sound like a good plan. What do you suggest? I don't think we have time to add another class in something at the moment. I wish we did. I think I need something fairly short and independent, which probably won't be very effective, but at least would get him started. I wish our CC offered more language classes. The middle one could use some Japanese. Next year, when the older one is doing mostly CC classes, maybe I can find a class for my youngest. Do you have any recommendations?
