You can entice her with one of the books on CD. We listened to several of the Freddy books on CD and now my 3rd grader is devouring them (the printed books, not the CDs) on her own.
The only negative is listening to the Freddy poems and songs over and over... my K'er has many of them memorized thanks to the wonderful narrator John McDonough.
