... it is a LOT of work for me. Since we use a TON of materials eclectically (we've never used a boxed curriculum, and even when we've had a study guide, we've never stuck exactly to it). I have to do it in pencil, too, as no matter how hard I try, something ALWAYS gets dropped off the schedule, or gets bumped, or gets forgotten, or something comes up...
The only good thing about the weekly schedule is that it has helped move my boys towards a bit more personal responsibility, as they can see what has to happen not only for that day, but for the week.
Next year I am going to revamp my schedule again -- I'll have a 9th grader and an 8th grader, so I need to start keeping track of credits. For each subject, I plan to put either 9 weeks (1 quarter) or 18 weeks (1 semester) on a single sheet of paper, with each chapter/paper/assignment listed in a box. When each box has been checked off (by writing the date in it on which that assignment was completed) -- voile! End of quarter (or semester) for that subject!
We'lll see how well THAT goes! (lol) Best of luck, whatever you go with! Warm regards, Lori D.
