I had Cuisinaire Rods, but decided to buy the MUS counting rods anyway. They are colour-coded differently, and I didn't want to force my math phobic daughter to learn two sets of colours. "When Steve says 'pink', I have to pick up 'yellow'"

Also, the MUS rods are empty inside. My Cuisinaire Rods (which are 40 years old! I have no idea about the new ones) are basically wooden sticks . The MUS rods are turned upside down, to show their holes, when doing subtractions. (at least in the demo - we're not dealing with substrations yet)
