About nouns--proper nouns in particular--

Are there proper nouns for things?

All I can think of are tradenames, like Coca-Cola and Fruitopia and so on. Would the title of a book be considered the "proper name" for a particular book? Titles of poems?

And what about ideas?

That seems to be a historical thing. One hundred years ago "Beauty" would have been capitalized (and thus a proper noun) but no longer....

any ideas? or is that Ideas?
