I have the same problem with my daughter. I don't know if she's impatient or if she's a little nervous because she will do the same thing. I've noticed though that it's partly due to the no. of words in a line. I have covered up the other words and just let her focus on the word she's on. i also end up covering up the first letter and then let her read the end, and then get her to read the entire word. this slows her reading down obviously but it's been helping. i then get her to read the entire sentence again word for word a little faster. I don't know if this will help but I think that some kids will have this problem. i hope that you will get more responses because i would like to try another way if it will be more effective.

btw, we are using ETC and HOP. Both have their strengths and weaknesses but I think they compliment each other.

i don't know if this helps but don't feel too badly! I have a 6 yr old reading at a 5th grade level and a just turned 3 yr old starting to read and my daughter who's 5 is now just starting to read and we're having this problem for the first time! I don't think it's the parent, just part of the child's personality! let's see what others have to say.
