Dd just did this last year. I combined two programs to make a one year class. We used World Geography by A Beka (semester course) along with their map activities book and World Physical Geography Student Activity Workbook by Brenda Runkle. This book is the companion book to Runkle's Physical Geography. The workbook is what I call "location geography". We wanted a year long course. A Beka was only a semester. A Beka didn't have as much memorization of countries, capitals, etc. as I wanted, but the Runkle Student Activity Workbook did. So, I just meshed the two together. Both are organized according to continent, so it wasn't that hard to do. I also used Uncle Josh's Outline Maps - I just love his maps! - and used an Atlas as needed.
If you want just a semester course, I think the A Beka course is great.
If you want an online course, I seem to recall The Potter's School has a year long course. You'd have to double check my recall though. :o) We love TPS but don't have experience with this class.
Maybe that will get you started.
