Our co-op is something like the ones you all are describing. And it is has evolve(d) over time.

I think the thing to remember is that you are only "in a given co-op" for a short period of time because even if you don't move around, the co-op will and possibly Should CHANGE. Different families, different needs and flexibility to adapt to those needs will mean your co-op thrives - and really, you want it to thrive so that it can meet the needs of your kids and families.

Also remember that the nature of the cooperative experience is that you (we/I) are expected to participate in the planning and execution. So make YOUR co-op be what YOU need. If the leadership is on a power trip to do it "their way or the highway" or because "it's always been this way" then ... walk the OTHER way. Good leadership understands that the function of a co-op is not to leave a legacy of great leadership by a few.
