Teaching to the test gets me too. We had our ds take the SAT and ACT the first time w/o any prep and it did great. It was thru a TAG program at a young age.Last year I had him read thru an ACT prep book and do two sample tests (this only took a couple of days) and surprisingly his score jumped 4 points. Now, it could have been the result of being a year older OR the prep book. Who knows. I think it is an injustice, though, to not let the child become familiar with the format of the tests and do a sample test. Just me.
