I agree, but the SAT is considered an overall "reasoning test." Taking standard deviations into consideration, student scores are generally going to align accordingly. I think it is reasonable to prep the the student by familiarizing them with the style of test as well as the content covered on the test. With that said, I personally think a rigorous math program in addition to reading, reading, and more reading significantly influence performance.
Unfortunately, for homeschoolers, in Georgia at least, SAT scores play a significant role and appears will continue to do so if the Board of Regents gets its way...homeschoolers are begining to feel pressured and compelled to jump through these hoops to attain higher education (excluding private schools, of course)! Yeesh, it is very frustrating to say the least!
