A question for those who have ALREADY produced a good writer...how did you do it?????

I am so tired of trying to figure out which writing curriculum to get, narration/dictation/copywork, etc. There are sooo many recommendations, methods and programs out there and I can't make up my mind. Most of the people who are making recommendations still have youngish children and, although they know what is working for them right now, I'd really like to know from those who have already produced good writers how you did it. You have the "looking back" vision that I don't have yet.

My oldest is in 10th grade but was in ps until 9th and she "came home" with fairly good writing skills already...but I didn't do it. My next one will be in 3rd grade and then there is a baby after that. So with them I have a chance to use something for many years to come.

So if you have some insight and wisdom from your good experiences, I would sure appreciate your advice. Maybe a pattern will emerge or maybe it is just too individual to be "copied." This is the one subject I just came seem to get any peace about what path to take.

Thank you again!
