Jim said it was a good way to teach rhetoric level math.
However, I've also heard some folks who did not like it at all. I'd guess that if it is a good fit, then it is a good text.
The only negative I have heard is that my friend's dd found that the way the math was taught in UCSMP was different from the way Wile taught it in Apologia Chemistry, and she struggled to figure it out. I also think it would be hard to go from the UCSMP approach to another approach (or vise versa). I assume you'd want to stay with the program if you chose it--but then I've never used it and have only looked into it and used their Transitional Math as a secondary text.
