BUT...
She has a boyfriend that suddenly appeared on the radar just as she finished classes this summer. So, he had time to really "set in" (LOL) before fall semester started, and now they are spending many, many hours each day together.
I haven't seen her say "no" to time with the young man in order to study alone, but I have watched her "study" together with him every day. Only one day (Labor Day) did she stay home and draw several sketches for her drawing class.
Fortunately, she discovered that Calculus II was going to be a breeze due to significant overlap from her accelerated Calc I (how sad that Calc I at the CC is more advanced than Calc I at the university, huh?). She will only cover about a chapter and a half of new material this semester. Spanish 4 is also a fairly straight-forward course for her, using the same book she's used for Spanish 1-3. So, that frees her up to really focus on the art courses. She's still a little freaked out by the subjectivity of the art classes (never quite sure if she's satisfying the professor's requirements), but I think we've convinced her that grades are insignificant in art courses--only learning is required. If that's a "B" or even a "C," so be it.
The good news about this young man of my dd's is that he's a great kid, with a strong major himself, from a wonderful family in our church who we adore. So, there are worse things she could do than pick up a new beau! GRIN.
