I posted our experience down below under a Spanish thread. It became a problem for us because our oldest took algebra one, geometry, Spanish one, as well as three other high school credits in 7th and 8th grade. We were unaware of the state law (only 2 credits from middle school), and even if we had been, we wouldn't have thought it pertained to homescoolers. However, it does. The state requires algebra one and geometry as well as requiring 2 years of foreign language.
My son detested Spanish. There is no way he wanted a third year of language. OK...we want that to carry to high school.
But, wait, we need both of those high school math courses. It seems ridiculous that even though the math was taken and higher math (calculus) would be on his transcript, he had to have algebra and geometry in high school. Yikes. Talk about red tape and jumping through hoops.
