Agree that sitting down and showing what needs to be done is invaluable! Would also suggest a copy of "The Lively Art of Writing". Great little, inexpensive book that clarifies the importance of nailing down your thesis and ordering the points to support it. Got my copy for 98cents from Amazon.
Also, FYI, WriteatHome.com's website has back issues of newsletters on site for all, I think and the most recent one had a terrific chart abbout which transitions to use when.
