Interesting, and weird, since the county people seemed completely surprised when I mentioned my daughter was taking FLVS classes.

You know, I have noticed that thing with the addresses, but I chalked it up to them just needing to fill in something on the form.

Different counties do things differently, but we've never gotten a "welcome to homeschooling letter." We just went through the whole registration process again, because my son is getting ready to try out a middle school math class this fall. FLVS said we had to send them our homeschool "confirmation letter," but I had never received any such thing. After some back and forth, the ended up accepting a copy of my intent to homeschool notice with a "Received" stamp from the county.

I was actually pretty irritated by the whole thing, because I noticed when I was addressing an envelope that the FLVS administration and our county home education liason are IN THE SAME BUILDING. But they still required me to spend two days mucking with getting the school district to fax a copy of the registration letter to me just so I could turn around and fax it to FLVS. Good grief.

Our school district does keep files, but they don't seem terrible efficient about it. One of the reasons it was such a hassle to get my son registered for FLVS was that the district had lost their file on him and had no records at all. In the process of looking for his stuff, they discovered that they were also missing at least one evaluation for my daughter. However, they had never contacted me. Fortunately, I had copies (with the all-important "Received" stamp) to prove I had submitted both his letter of intent and last year's evaluations for both of them. However, according to their records, I was about a year overdue but never heard a peep.

Of course, they also had no record of our current address, despite the fact that I had a "Received"-stamped copy of my letter about that, too. So, even if they had sent me something, I might not have gotten it . . .
