Question about Florida Virtual School Latin

Does anyone here live in Florida and know anything about Florida Virtual School? I am wondering if my 8th grade son can take Latin in the fall, or if he has to be a 9th grader to take it. I am also wondering if the course goes on a permanent transcript.
