My dd took TLI at a co-op. I took over teaching the class for TLII. I agree with everything Tina said. Your child will begin to self-teach but it is very important to stay connected to what is going on. If you don't read the text, it will be very difficult to correct the work your child does, too. I can't totally explain why this is, but you will see as you get into it.

With the co-op students I've been supervising I'd say one 11th grade girl and one 8th grade boy have been very, very competent and did not really need my help-ever. The other students have needed varying degrees of help. But, the students have been very positive about the class and enthusiastic about the case studies within TLII.

I'd also say there is varying degrees of difficulty within the text. It is comforting to be in the final stretch! I think all of us nearly died around chapter 3 of TLII. But then things got better. So glad we all stuck to it. TLI also seemed to get a bit challenging at the end of the book. But, the author assumes that you remember TLI for TLII.

I feel like all of the students have come such a long way in their thinking skills! I see the improvement in areas like writing and debate.
